With almost 50,000 positive cases recorded last week, the country of Britain has issued a 6-week lockdown which starts by Wednesday; barring the opening of schools and suggesting the professionals to work from home.
A total lockdown
Britain Prime Minister, Boris Johnson on Monday (January 4th) announced a total lockdown for 6 weeks that will begin on Wednesday. The decision has been taken as the country has reported 50,000 active cases of COVID over the past 7 consecutive days. And to avoid any further spreading the country has issued this lockdown critically.
New regulations and guidelines issued
The new regulations and guidelines of the COVID lockdown involve various speculations which involve the closing of the primary and secondary schools. The university wards are also advised to return only in mid-February.
Except for essentials, all other shops will be shut down completely. Saloons are asked to cease operations and the restaurants are advised for take-outs alone. The regulations have made mandatory and the recent sudden increase of 30% rise in the cases is a definite quantification of the seriousness of the issue over the country.
50 and 70 percent transmissible
While talking to the press, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that” “We now have a variant of the virus. It has been both frustrating and alarming to see the speed with which the new variant is spreading. Our scientists have confirmed this new variant is between 50 and 70 percent more transmissible,”
Almost 27,000 cases
“As I speak to you tonight, our hospitals are under more pressure from COVID than at any time since the start of the pandemic. In England alone, the number of COVID patients in hospitals has increased by nearly a third in the last week, to almost 27,000,” he said.
Rushed COVID vaccines
The current situation in the UK is not that people-friendly and hence the people are strictly asked to abide by the guidelines of the government. The government has also rushed the COVID vaccine production to begin and create positive results as soon as possible.
What do you feel about the current state of the UK? Will the vaccine prove helpful?
