The first road-cum-rail overpass in Karnataka capital Bengaluru may be completed by June 2019 after it missed October 2021 target.

The double-decker flyover is being erected between Ragigudda and Central Silk Road- a distance of 3.35km. The project is being carried out by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL).

While the upper deck of the flyover will be used by Metro, the bottom deck would be exploited by the cars. According to a report in the Times of India, the flyover is part of the Phase-2 project for the completely elevated RV Road-Bommasandra route.

“Only about a kilometre of the 3.3-kilometer road bridge is still under construction. It would be finished by June 22nd “BMRC PRO BL Yashwanth Chavan was mentioned in the news.

According to an official, the most demanding component of the project is launching and fastening wings to the spine portion of the road-level flyover.

The timeframe for the whole RV Road-Bommasandara Metro section, according to Chavan, is December 2022. The portion between Ragigudda and CBS intersection will have a signal corridor, according to a Metro official.

This will be the first time a metro rail system has been built atop a flyover. The road overpass is being built at an elevation of eight metres above ground level, while the metro line will be built at a height of sixteen metres. Cities like as Nagpur, Jaipur, and Mumbai have previously implemented similar metro and road transportation systems.
