Anti-cow slaughter bill passed in Karnataka amidst the noise

The Congress has said that the bill is just to be misused and target the minorities. However, BJP in return have said that the bill is just for the protection of the cows.

The Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill 2020 ensures that any act of illegal transportation, hiding, and slaughter will be considered as a violating act and will earn themselves stringent punishment.

The act was passed on Wednesday, amid quarrels by the congress party who later walked out.  The bill is named as the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill 2020 ensures a total ban of any slaughter process or other related violations.

While answering the reporters in the press meet, “Yes, the bill has been passed in the Assembly,” Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J C Madhuswamy told PTI.              

The Bill also serves to protect buffalos as well along with cows and calves as said by the officials. A speedy court will be setup and will investigate these cases rapidly. Also the police have been bestowed the power to protect the people who protect these livestock under the bill.

The bill was passed ‘discussion-less’ and that resulted in commotion in the assembly. Yet the bill got sanctioned.

While the bill ensures safety for the cattle and other livestock; the congress feels that this might be used against the minority community people and will cause distraught amongst the people. The party later walked out.
