The duel performance
Two vaccines have been given emergency approval for India’s immunization program; the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, known in India as Covishield, and a domestic product, Covaxin, developed by the pharmaceutical company Bharat Biotech are the ones in use for now on Indian grounds.
580 adverse reactions
At this juncture, the union ministry of family welfare has said that there have been around 580 reported cases of adverse reactions to the vaccine; out of which 7 people have been hospitalized. Also, in addition to this; two people who were registered with the vaccine on the 18th of January, have died. Yet, the union ministry has said that the deaths are caused due to other cardio-related illnesses of the victims earlier to the vaccine administration and not due to it.
Of the deceased, 46-year-old Mahipal Singh, a ward boy in a Moradabad-based government hospital, had previously received the vaccine shot 24 hours before. He later died on Sunday.
Post-mortem report by a board of three doctors said he died due to cardiopulmonary disease.
surge of panic
The new covid vaccine has definitely created a surge of panic amongst the minds of the public, as the efficiency and other side effects are still a mystery. And because of this many people still fear for the vaccine than the virus itself.
Let’s hope that this fear and death toll reduce as we know more about the vaccine.
