How I Braved Anu aunty and co-founded a million dollar company – Book Review
Living in a country like India, where it’s crime if you want to do anything apart from being an engineer or a doctor. The word entrepreneur practically doesn’t exist, and if you want to do something on your own, you are treated like a terrorist.
Varun, The protagonist trying to break a traditional system of livelihood that is studying hard and earning a degree to get job in multinational company, get married and have kids. But he breaks the chain to follow his passion for becoming an entrepreneur. The society in form of Anu aunty, trying to hurdle his goal of achieving that. And how he overcame those problems and become a huge success in his life.
THE SHORT STORY FROM THE BOOK THAT INSPIRED ME:
Varun met Rajat on plane. Where Rajat told him a story about him and Ashok. They both went to IIT in 1980’s and further went to Harvard business school. After that Ashok went on to work for apple and Rajat went to work for an big consulting firm. Rajat recently came to India for a business meeting. His car broke down in Calcutta. So they took him to large garage where he found out the guy who is repairing the car was Ashok. Rajat was shocked and asked Ashok how could you be repairing cars ‘you are smartest guy’ I ever knew. You should probably be a CEO of some company. Ashok told him you know what? I worked for apple for few years and quit my job and came back to India where I made a company that increase fuel efficiency and sold that and started a garage. Because all I ever loved was repairing cars with my own hands. Rajat was the one telling the story finally he told varun I am 65 years old and vice president of a company. My regret is I never lived a life that I wanted to live; I lived a life that others wanted me to live so don’t give up on dreams.
To do that “Don’t think just do”
