Among children, adults in Kerala have been found with better immunisation says a new survey.
Gradual decrease every day
The COVID has finally started to degenerate with better safety protocols around the world. With the increased pace of vaccination, the number of cases is under a gradual decrease every day. And at this event of importance and significance, it has been found that adults from Kerala have developed better natural antibodies against COVID. This has been around 82% of the total majority of people living in the state as a whole.
The government of Kerala conducted a massive seroprevalence survey earlier which gave positive outcomes such that; it inferred around 82.6 per cent to be naturally immune to the COVID strains. Of the 4,429 samples tested, 3,659 were found to be positive for antibodies, thanks to vaccination and natural infection. Just last month, Kerala was in the news for its surging COVID graph.
Seroprevalence was found to be only 40.2 per cent
The report read as Among children (aged 5 to 17), seroprevalence was found to be only 40.2 per cent, while among pregnant women it was 65.4 per cent. Of the 2,274 samples tested, gradual decrease every day. the ICMR had conducted three rounds of serosurveys in Kerala in May-June 2020, August September 2020 and December 2020 and found a seroprevalence of 0.3 per cent, 0.8 per cent and 11.6 per cent, respectively. These were serial cross-sectional surveys from three districts of the state. In March this year, a survey conducted by the state government had found seropositivity at 10.76 per cent only.
With all these factors, on one hand, the government is still worried that the state of Kerala will still be exposed to COVID more than any other state of the country and must maintain maximum effort to reduce its virulence.
What do you feel about the current situation of Kerala? Will natural immunity prove to be useful for the state?
