Race to the first place

In the race to secure the first place in developing the world’s first effective COVID vaccine; the US pharmaceutical company Moderna seeks government assistance and permissions to produce their vaccine in large scale and distribute it. The company filed its petition for permission on Monday this week followed by a report explaining that the vaccine has given a 100% positive response to those volunteers who were given dosages.

The EMA

Also in its statement; it said, “Moderna plans today to request EUA (Emergency Use Authorisation) from the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration),” Moderna said in a statement, adding it would also “apply for a conditional marketing authorisation with the European Medicines Agency (EMA).”

Following other protocols will be followed the coming months and more volunteers are to be tested for the proper checking the working of the vaccine.

Distribute to other countries as well

The company also said that in its future plans it tries to distribute the vaccine to other countries as soon as possible.

End of December

By the end of December, the US could have as many as 60 million doses of two vaccines authorised for emergency use.

With its competitor company Pfizer marching slowly towards success, Moderna’s registration for NOD is a good news for the world. But still the efficiency of the vaccine when registered to the public is yet another puzzle to be solved soon.

1500 to 2500 rupees

It is also expected that the vaccine might cost around 1500 to 2500 rupees in India for a single dose.

Next year, the US government could have access to more than 1 billion doses just from the two vaccine makers, more than needed for the country’s 330 million residents.

What do you feel about the sudden registration works from Moderna? Will the vaccine finally safeguard us?
