US Open will witness 100% fan capacity as the country seems to have turned back to normal

With the New York area continuing to reopen, the US Open tennis tournament is all set to allow 100 per cent spectator capacity throughout its 2-week schedule beginning late August.

Last year spectators were not allowed to attend the event because of the coronavirus pandemic. The year’s last Grand Slam tournament is scheduled at Flushing Meadows in New York from August 30 to September 12.

The decision has surfaced after on-site is the latest step in a return to normal for New York and for fans of various sports as the world emerges from more than a year of COVID curbs.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo

Following the matter, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the people will continue to follow all safety protocols and the decision has been approved following the vaccination of almost 70% of adults in the state. The US Open will be the first Grand Slam tournament to have full attendance since the Australian Open in January-February 2020 shortly before the coronavirus outbreak turned into a full-blown pandemic.
